Peach brings a soft, naturally sweet texture, while raspberry adds a pleasant little tangy note.

It’s a perfect homemade baby snack idea for summer, when fruit is ripe and full of flavor! It comes together in just a few minutes and can be offered from the very beginning of complementary feeding, with a very smooth texture.

At what age can you offer this peach raspberry compote to baby?

This compote can be offered from 5–6 months, if baby has already started fruit purées and the texture is very smooth.

Raspberry contains tiny seeds that can sometimes bother baby. For a very soft texture, you can pass the compote through a sieve after blending. You’ll get a finer compote, especially for younger babies.

As always, offer a small amount at first, then adjust according to your baby’s tastes and habits.

Ingredients

For 2 servings:

2 small ripe peaches

about 1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries (50 g)

Preparation

Wash the peaches and raspberries well.

Peel the peaches for a very smooth compote, then remove the pits. Cut the peaches into small pieces.

Peach pieces for baby compote

Place the peach pieces in a steamer basket, then steam for 8 minutes.

When 3 minutes of cooking time remain, add the raspberries (they cook very quickly!).

Raspberries for baby

Blend the cooked fruit finely until you get a very smooth compote.

For an even softer texture, especially for a 5- to 6-month-old baby, you can pass the compote through a sieve to remove the tiny raspberry seeds.

Let it cool to lukewarm before serving it to baby.

Enjoy!

How to serve this compote to baby?

You can serve this compote on its own as a snack, or with:

plain yogurt

a baby-friendly fromage blanc or soft fresh cheese

a small porridge

semolina pudding

a pancake, depending on baby’s age

a piece of soft bread, depending on baby’s age.

For older babies, this compote can also be used as a little fruit sauce over pancakes, crepes, or plain yogurt.

Storage

This peach raspberry compote will keep for 24 to 48 hours in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed airtight container.

You can also freeze it in small portions, for example in an ice cube tray or small suitable containers.
