{"id":9762,"date":"2026-05-18T14:47:25","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T12:47:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cookingformybaby.com\/en\/?p=9762"},"modified":"2026-05-22T10:18:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T08:18:23","slug":"corn-puree-baby-4-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cookingformybaby.com\/en\/corn-puree-baby-4-months\/","title":{"rendered":"Corn Pur\u00e9e for Babies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I started solids with my girls (Alix first, then Sasha), I quickly noticed that some flavors were naturally easier for them to accept than others.<br \/>\nAnd corn\u2026 it is exactly that reassuring little flavor: mild, slightly sweet, and easy to love from the very first spoonful.<br \/>\nIt is actually a pur\u00e9e I often prepared when I wanted something simple, quick, and, most importantly, loved.<\/p>\n<p>Corn is a vegetable that few parents think to offer at the beginning, and yet it is <strong>perfect from 4 months<\/strong>: its flavor is very mild, its color is pretty (yes, that can matter for babies!), and once finely blended, it gives an almost creamy texture.<br \/>\nAt our house, this was often a \u201cguaranteed smile\u201d pur\u00e9e: if you are in the stage where baby is discovering flavors and making faces at almost everything\u2026 this one might just save your day!<\/p>\n<p>You can use a fresh ear of corn or canned corn (with no added salt, of course). Both work very well.<br \/>\nYou simply need to <strong>blend it well<\/strong> and, for the very beginning, <strong>strain it<\/strong> if the little skins are still a bit thick.<br \/>\nThe first time I made this pur\u00e9e for Alix, I remember getting a bright yellow, ultra-smooth cream that was so good I ended up keeping a little \u201cfor myself\u201d (yes, that happens often).<\/p>\n<p>And as with all vegetable pur\u00e9es from 4 months, add a small <strong>teaspoon of oil<\/strong> at the end for those good essential fatty acids.<br \/>\nThe result: a mild, rounded, easy-to-digest pur\u00e9e that is perfect for baby\u2019s first spoonfuls.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<p>(For 1 to 2 baby portions)<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1 fresh ear of corn<\/strong> (or <strong>about 1 cup canned corn (140 g)<\/strong>, no added salt)<\/li>\n<li><strong>1 teaspoon vegetable oil<\/strong> (canola, sunflower, or special baby oil blend)<\/li>\n<li><strong>A little cooking water<\/strong>, if needed, to adjust the texture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step-by-step preparation<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Prepare the corn<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If using <strong>fresh corn<\/strong>: remove the husks and silks, then rinse the ear well.<br \/>\nCook it in a pot of boiling water for about <strong>10 to 15 minutes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If using <strong>canned corn<\/strong>: rinse it under clean water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Remove the kernels from the cob<\/strong><br \/>\nOnce cooked, cut the kernels off with a knife, slicing lengthwise along the cob.
