Recipe steps
We made a little fig and apple purée for baby.
Figs are packed with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals — so why miss out? As always, make sure to check with your pediatrician before introducing figs into your baby’s diet.
I chose to add an apple to soften the flavor of the fig, and also because apples are full of vitamins too — and they pair well with just about any fruit.
Also, you’ll see that figs contain lots of tiny seeds. I decided to leave them in, but if your baby doesn’t like the texture, you can always strain the purée through a fine sieve.
What you need to make this fig and apple purée for baby
(From 6 months – I got 2 small jars of about 3 oz each):
Ingredients
- 3 figs
- 1 apple (Golden is perfect for purées)
Preparation
Let’s start with the figs.
Rinse them thoroughly, especially if you’re keeping the skin on. I didn’t peel them, I just removed the little rough bits and the tip, that’s all. Then cut them into small pieces.
Cooking
Place the figs in the steamer basket.
Next, take care of the Golden apple: wash it, peel it, and slice it thinly so it cooks as quickly as the figs.
Add the apple slices next to the fig pieces in the steamer basket.
Steam the fruits for about 10 minutes (or 6 minutes on pressure cook mode if you’re using a Cookeo).
Once cooked, the fruits should be nice and soft, ready to be blended.

Then chill the purée in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
And that’s it!
Enjoy, little one!
