Pairing it with sweet potato sounded really good to me. Both have a very mild flavor, and the sweet potato adds the starchy element to this recipe. My daughter is 11 months old, so I added onion (which can be offered from 8 months). If your baby is under 8 months old, do not add it to the recipe!
After cooking, I kept the water to give to my daughter as “broth” in her sippy cup. I know that technically broth is the water in which vegetables have simmered for a long time, but here I will call it that :). The water from steaming is very good for health. So why throw the cooking water away? It is full of vitamins and minerals.
Here is what you need to make this butternut squash, sweet potato, and chicken purée with its broth for baby (from 6 months, makes 4 portions of about 7 oz / 200 g each):
Ingredients
Preparation

Now for the onion: only add it if baby is 8 months or older! Peel it, cut it in half, and place it with the sweet potato and butternut squash.
Cooking
Cooking can begin. I recommend not using too much mineral water for steaming so this water is more concentrated for the “broth.” In the Cookeo, I pressure-cooked everything for 15 minutes. For regular steaming, allow 20 to 22 minutes: the vegetables should be very tender! Let’s go!
Meanwhile, cut the chicken into small cubes. I used chicken tenderloins, but chicken breast fillet works very well too.

Place the vegetables in the blender with the olive oil. Blend! Spoon the vegetable purée into the containers.
For a 6-month-old baby: Blend the chicken together with the vegetables
For a baby from 8 months: blend the chicken finely, separately from the vegetables. This adds a little texture to the dish!
Then pour the cooking water into a bottle or sippy cup so baby can drink it (lukewarm or at room temperature) while eating the meal.
Our butternut squash, sweet potato, and chicken purée with broth for baby is now ready. Baby can enjoy it!
Enjoy your meal, baby 😉
