Recipe steps
Today, we’re making a homemade baby purée from 4 months: sweet, fruity, and summery, with ripe nectarine and soft banana for a sunny blend, perfect for baby’s very first spoonfuls.
At home, this summer recipe is a big hit: Alix tasted it and said, “It tastes like a grown-up dessert!” So I just had to share it with you.
It’s an easy, quick, and flavorful purée, perfect to introduce seasonal fruits to your baby, starting from 4 months.
Ingredients
(for 1 generous portion) :
- 1 small ripe nectarine (about 80 g / 2.8 oz once peeled and pitted)
- 1/2 ripe banana (about 60 g / 2.1 oz, very ripe for a soft texture)
- Optional: 1 teaspoon of mineral water or cooking water, if needed to adjust the texture
Preparation
- Wash and peel the nectarine (the skin can be harder to digest at the beginning of food diversification).
- Cut it into small pieces and remove the pit.
- Steam the nectarine for 3 to 5 minutes, until very soft.
- Add the raw banana, sliced.
- Blend the baby purée until smooth and creamy.
- Let cool slightly before serving to baby.
Storage
This homemade baby fruit purée can be stored:
- Up to 48 hours in the fridge, in an airtight baby-safe container
- Up to 2 months in the freezer, in individual portions (ice cube tray works great!)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a peach instead of a nectarine?
Yes! Peach is a great alternative for babies, just as sweet and gentle. Make sure it’s ripe and peeled.
Is this purée suitable in the evening?
Yes, it’s a light and easy-to-digest fruit purée for babies. Perfect as an afternoon snack or dessert after dinner.
Do I need to cook the banana for baby?
No, a ripe banana can be given raw. It’s naturally soft, sweet, and well tolerated by babies when mashed or blended.
Can I use frozen nectarines?
Yes, as long as they’re ripe and unsweetened. Just thaw them properly and steam them briefly to make them nice and tender.
