Today, I decided to cook mango for baby. Mango is a wonderful, very flavorful tropical fruit that baby can start eating during food diversification from 6 months old.
Mango pairs beautifully with banana and orange together, perfect for a compote! Baby is really going to enjoy all these flavors.
This fruit blend is packed with vitamins, and the different textures will give our baby compote a wonderfully smooth final texture.
Here is what you need to make this mango, orange, and banana compote recipe (from 6 months):
Ingredients
Preparation

Wash it well. Now we are going to peel it, and here is a waste-free tip:
- Cut the mango in half
- Remove the pit
- Slide each mango half along the rim of a glass so the skin separates from the flesh
Here is what it looks like in pictures. It is often easier than 1,000 explanations 😉

Cooking
Place the banana slices with the mango pieces in the steamer basket, then start cooking. I cooked them for 2 minutes under pressure in the Cookeo; allow about 5 minutes for regular steaming. Let’s go!
Meanwhile, prepare the orange. Wash it (yes, really! We are going to handle it before squeezing it, so it is important to remove any dirt), then cut it in half. Squeeze the orange to get 3 1/2 tablespoons (50 ml) of orange juice, making sure no seeds fall in.

Storing Mango, Orange and Banana Compote for Baby
This delicious mango, orange, and banana compote for baby can be prepared ahead of time and stored for future meals. Here is how to store it properly:
- Refrigerator: You can store portions of this compote in the refrigerator for up to 2 to 3 days. Be sure to place them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
- Freezer: For longer storage, this compote freezes very well. Divide it into individual portions for convenience. Place each portion in airtight freezer bags. Do not forget to label the bags with the freezing date. You can store this compote in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Thawing: When you want to use a frozen portion, place it in the refrigerator the night before. You can also gently reheat it in the microwave or in a saucepan using a double-boiler method until lukewarm, stirring regularly.
Always make sure to check the temperature of the compote before serving it to baby to avoid any risk of burns.
Enjoy!
