Recipe steps
Today we’re making a finger food recipe, because babies love eating with their hands! This one is super easy: mini vanilla yogurt cakes, with an optional chocolate twist.
Yogurt cake is a classic. It’s simple, delicious, and perfect for any occasion! It’s soft, light, and quick to prepare. The whole family loves it, and chances are, baby will too!
You only need a few basic ingredients to make this recipe, and you probably already have everything in your kitchen. Typically, we use the yogurt container to measure the rest of the ingredients, but I’ve adjusted the recipe to suit little ones.
So, what will it be at your house, vanilla only or chocolate chip version? 🙂
Here’s what you’ll need to make this recipe for 10 mini yogurt cakes for babies:
Ingredients
- 1 pot of plain yogurt (about 125g / 4.4 oz)
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- A few vanilla seeds (scraped from a pod) or a few drops of vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 pots of flour (use the yogurt container as a measure – about 250g / 8.8 oz total)
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/4 pot of neutral oil (such as canola or sunflower – about 30ml / 1 fl oz)
- A few chocolate chips (optional)
How to prepare mini yogurt cakes for babies?
Start by preheating your oven to 175°C (350°F).
Add the ingredients one by one into a mixing bowl, stirring well after each addition to get a smooth batter.
If you want to add chocolate chips to the whole batch, you can do so now. Otherwise, you can place them directly into each mold later on.
Now it’s time to divide the batter into your molds. I use a silicone mold from Silikomart, it’s perfect for this kind of recipe!
If you’d like to add something other than chocolate, you can also use raisins, cranberries, blueberries… or keep them plain, that’s great too! You can also sprinkle chocolate chips on top once the batter is in the molds.
Baking
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Keep an eye on them, as baking times can vary slightly depending on your oven.
Your mini yogurt cakes for baby are ready — time to enjoy!
Bon appétit, little one!
