This leek, potato and sardine puree is perfect for introducing new flavors while providing important nutrients for baby’s development.
Potato gives the puree a smooth, filling texture, leek adds a gentle vegetable flavor, and sardine is an excellent source of omega-3s, which are important for baby’s brain development.
This recipe is ideal from 6 months: it is complete, balanced and easy to prepare, perfect for those days when you want to make something nutritious without spending hours in the kitchen. It is also a lovely way to introduce fish gently, thanks to a smooth texture and a balanced taste.
Ingredients
For one 180g serving:
Preparation
Wash and slice the leek white into thin rounds. Using only the white part gives a softer texture and makes it less fibrous.
Peel the potato and cut it into slices.
Steam the vegetables for 12 minutes, until they are very tender.
Meanwhile, prepare the sardine:
- remove the skin if needed
- remove the bones, even if they are often very soft
- flake it finely
Blend the vegetables with a little cooking water if needed, until you get a smooth texture.
Add the sardine and oil, then blend again if needed. Depending on your baby’s stage, you can also offer the sardine finely flaked to introduce a new texture.
Enjoy, baby!
