Today we’re cooking a leek puree for baby, with a small potato to bind and soften the taste. We’ll use only the white part of the leek, which is more easily digestible. Leeks are packed with vitamins, fiber, iron, and calcium—a perfect blend for baby’s diet!
Leek and potato puree recipe for babies (from 4 months)
You can introduce leeks to your baby during the early stages of food diversification. Since leeks have a pronounced flavor (similar to onions), we’ll add a small potato to mellow it out. I used the “chérie” variety with red skin from my garden, which works perfectly for purees.
Here’s what you’ll need for this leek puree recipe for babies (From 4 months):

- - 4.2 oz leek white (7/8 cup / 120g)
- - 1 small potato (mine was about 1.7 oz / 30g)
- - water for steam cooking
Start by washing your leek. Remove the first layer all around the leek. Then cut the green part and keep only the white (if the white pulls slightly towards the green, keep it anyway, we do not spoil …) and also the other end of the leek, and slice the white leek.
Place them in your steamer basket. Next, wash and peel your small potato, then cut it into thin slices as well.
Add these slices to the basket and steam for about 12 minutes (8 minutes in pressure cooking mode with Cookeo). Let’s get started!
Then, transfer your cooked vegetables to your blender (without cooking water as the leek should have released enough moisture during cooking, otherwise you’ll end up with a soup).
Blend until smooth, and it’s ready! You’ll see how creamy this puree looks—baby will love it!
