I have to admit that I only really discovered quinoa after launching the Cooking for my baby blog… I’m so happy to discover new foods at the same time as my daughter! Better late than never, as they say 😉
If you don’t have quinoa, feel free to replace it in this recipe with semolina. It works really well too!
We had already cooked it as quinoa sticks with little vegetables. Now we’re going to cook it as a dessert, or for baby’s snack.
Here is what you need to make this vanilla milk quinoa with raspberry recipe for baby (from 9 months, for one portion to eat the same day):
Ingredients
Preparation

While the water is heating, rinse the quinoa in 2 or 3 changes of water to remove any impurities.

In the meantime, let’s take care of the raspberries.

Cooking
Wash them, then steam them for 2 short minutes. Start the timer!
Once the raspberries are cooked, place them in the blender and blend until smooth.
To finish, pass the purée through a fine-mesh sieve to remove all the tiny raspberry seeds, which can be very unpleasant in the mouth.
Place the small amount of raspberry coulis / purée you get in the refrigerator.
When the quinoa has finished cooking, leave it in the hot water off the heat for another 5 minutes.
Prepare the milk. Measure 6 scoops of infant formula powder and mix with 6 scoops of water to obtain ¾ cup + 2 tablespoons milk (210 ml). (Breastfeeding moms can also make this recipe! ;))
Place the milk in a saucepan.
Meanwhile, extract a few seeds from a vanilla bean. To do this, cut the bean lengthwise with a knife, then scrape about ½ inch (1 cm) with the tip of the knife.

Personally, I chose to leave enough milk so this milk quinoa stays easy for baby to swallow and not too compact 😉
Once you reach the desired consistency, place the milk quinoa in a small container and put it in the fridge next to the raspberry coulis / purée.
When serving (the same day, as milk unfortunately cannot be kept any longer), you can either let baby discover the tartness of the raspberry purée on its own first, then soften it with the milk quinoa, or mix everything together to make raspberry milk quinoa 😉
Our vanilla milk quinoa with raspberry recipe for baby (from 9 months) is now finished, and baby can enjoy it at snack time!
Bon appétit, baby 😉
