These sugar-free yogurt waffles are just perfect when you want a simple, quick snack suitable for babies from 9 months old. With very few ingredients (yogurt + egg + flour + baking powder), you get soft waffles that are easy to grab in little sticks (finger food) and also ideal for the whole family with only 5 minutes of prep time.
The big advantage of this recipe is that it contains no added sugar: you can serve it as-is to baby, then add a drizzle of agave syrup (or applesauce, mashed fruit, a little yogurt…) on the plate for older kids or adults.
It’s super practical for everyday life: one batter, several ways to serve it, and zero hassle!
Another great thing: these waffles store really well. You can make a small batch, keep some in the fridge for busy mornings, or even freeze them for a “ready in 2 minutes” snack to reheat in the toaster. Result: a homemade, budget-friendly snack that’s always ready when baby is hungry (or when you realize at 4:42 PM that the pantry is completely empty 😄).
Should You Let the Batter Rest?
It’s not mandatory; you can cook them right away, especially if baby is eager for snack time 😅.
But letting the batter rest for 5 to 10 minutes has 2 advantages:
- the flour hydrates better, making the batter smoother
- the baking powder starts activating, making the waffles slightly softer
If you’re in a hurry: skip it without worry. If you have 5 minutes: let it rest a bit!
Ingredients
(Makes about 5 waffles depending on your waffle maker)
Instructions
1. Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg + yogurt + oil.
Add the vanilla flavoring if using.

2. Add the Dry Ingredients
Add the flour + baking powder.
Mix until you get a smooth, lump-free batter.

3. Heat the Waffle Maker
Preheat the waffle maker. Lightly grease the plates if needed.
4. Cook the Waffles
Place a spoonful (or small ladle) of batter onto each waffle plate, close the waffle maker, and cook for a few minutes until the waffles are lightly golden. With my waffle maker, it takes between 3 minutes 30 seconds and 4 minutes.
And there you go — baby’s quick snack is already ready! Enjoy 🙂

Tips
- For baby: cut into easy-to-hold sticks and serve with applesauce, yogurt, or mashed fruit.
- For older kids and adults: drizzle agave syrup on the waffle right before serving
Storage
- In the fridge: 2 to 3 days in an airtight container.
- In the freezer: yes, and reheat in the toaster or waffle maker to bring back crispiness (in this case, be careful not to overcook them during the first bake).
FAQ
At what age can babies eat these waffles?
From 9 months old, if baby is comfortable handling soft finger foods. Cut them into thick sticks for easier gripping.
Do you really need to let this waffle batter rest?
No, you can cook it right away. Letting it rest for 5 to 10 minutes simply improves the texture (smoother batter, softer waffles).
Why not add sugar to the batter?
To keep a baby-friendly and flexible base recipe: you can sweeten on the plate for adults (agave syrup, jam, etc.) without changing the recipe!
Can you add vanilla?
Yes, it’s optional: vanilla extract/flavoring (a little) or vanilla powder. It adds flavor without sweetness!
The batter is too thick / too runny: what should I do?
Too thick: add 1 to 2 tbsp water or milk.
Too runny: add 1 tbsp flour.
How can I prevent the waffles from sticking to the waffle maker?
The waffle maker must be properly heated and the plates lightly greased if needed. Very important: the waffle also needs to be fully cooked before opening!
What can you serve with these yogurt waffles?
For baby: applesauce, mashed fruit, yogurt.
For adults: agave syrup added when serving, honey, chocolate spread, etc.
