Quince is very rich in fiber and contains a lot of vitamin C. It can help prevent baby colic, which is perfect when your little one suffers from it! Its tartness helps baby continue discovering different flavors, ideal during food diversification.
We already know apple, which we use in many fruit combinations for our compotes. But let’s remember that it naturally contains sugar, vitamins, and fiber too. A valuable nutritional boost for baby.
The pinch of cinnamon will add a little spiced note to our compote. That extra little flavor helps awaken baby’s taste buds, and we love that! (We’ll add it to baby’s compote once baby is 6 months old, not before.)
Here is what you need to prepare this apple, quince, and cinnamon compote recipe for baby (from 4 or 6 months, for 3 to 4 portions of compote):

Cooking
We are going to cook it separately from the apple. First, because the cooking time is longer, and also because we’ll want to add the quince to the apples gradually so we can adjust the tartness of the compote. I cooked it for 10 minutes under pressure in the Cookeo (count a good 15 minutes for steaming). Let’s go!
While our quince is cooking, we take care of our apples. Wash them, peel them, cut them in half, and remove the whole center with the seeds. Basically, we do exactly the same thing as for the quince… then cut the apple into pieces.

Once our apple is cooked, blend it, then add the cooked quince pieces little by little, tasting as you go to adjust the tartness of the compote, as I mentioned earlier.

Our apple, quince, and cinnamon compote recipe is now finished. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours and serve it for baby’s afternoon snack. Yum!
Storing the compote
This delicious apple, quince, and cinnamon compote for baby can be prepared ahead of time and stored for future meals. Here is how to store it properly:
- Refrigerator: You can store portions of this compote in the refrigerator for up to 2 to 3 days. Make sure to place them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
- Freezer: For longer storage, this compote freezes very well. Divide it into individual portions for convenience. Place each portion in airtight freezer bags. Don’t forget to label the bags with the freezing date. You can store this compote in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Thawing: When you want to use a frozen portion, place it in the refrigerator the night before so it can thaw gently. You can also reheat it gently in the microwave or in a saucepan until lukewarm, stirring regularly.
Always make sure to check the temperature of the compote before serving it to baby to avoid any risk of burns.
Enjoy, baby!
